Fun and Easy Paper Flowers

These paper flowers are fun and easy to make.  You can use them to decorate for spring or for a birthday party.  They are so quick that you could make a whole garden of them!

Daisy Flower, type 1

You will need ...

  • Cardstock in desired color, cut into strips about 1/4″ wide.
  • Cardstock in different color, cut into circle about 1.5″ in diameter.
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Daisy Instructions

Cut the strips in half lengthwise so they are about 5.5" long.

Next, glue the ends of the strip to the backside of the circle, making petals.  Continue all around the circle until there are petals all around.

Finally, glue the other ends of the strips to the center so the strip forms a loop. Repeat on all strips.

Flip the flower over and you have a pretty paper daisy! You could also glue a green popsicle stick or a straw or a pipe cleaner to it to create a stem.

Daisy Flower, type 2

You will need ...

  • Colored Construction Paper, 2 sheets in the same color
  • String of any kind
  • Construction paper of a different color, cut into a circle about 2″ in diameter
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Clothes pins (optional)

Daisy Instructions

First, fold the paper in half. Then, fold in half again in the same direction. Repeat until you are left with a folded paper with many layers, stopping when the strip is about 3/4".

Then, unfold the paper completely.  This creates light creases to help guide you in the next step.  Now, fold the paper back up accordion style, folding one way, then the opposite way.  Repeat with the other piece of paper.

Then, glue the two accordion style folded papers together to make one long paper that looks like a window blind.

Next, use the string and tie it in the middle of the paper. This creates the center of the flower. Be sure to leave the ends of the tied string on the top of the paper, not the side.

Now, use the scissors to round off the ends of the paper.

Then, open the accordion folds up like a fan. Use the glue to stick the ends of the paper together to form a circle. you can use clothes pins to hold the glued parts together while they dry.

Finally, glue the circle to the side that does not have the string ends.

If you wanted to hang the flowers, use a longer string when you are tying the middle of the folded paper. This long string can then be used to hang the finished flower. You may also want to add a circle to the other side of the flower so it looks the same from both sides.

Petal Flower instructions

You will need ...

  • Cardstock in desired color
  • Circle to trace (I used a cookie cutter)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Stapler
  • Tape (optional)

Trace five identical circles onto the cardstock.  Use the scissors to cut out all circles.

Fold all the circles in half.

Use the stapler to staple all five folded circles together. Be sure the edges are perfectly lined up before stapling.

Gently open up the folded paper to make them resemble petals. Repeat on all petals.

Use the glue to stick the petals together.  Use clothespins to hold them together until the glue dries.

Finally, remove the clothes pins and enjoy your paper petal flower.
