I know there are turkey drawings, turkey colorings, turkey fact sheets, and turkey headbands coming home in your child’s school bag. But the kids will also be home for a few days with not a lot to do, so what’s one more turkey craft?
You will need...
Patterned paper (scrapbook paper, cardstock, or even wrapping paper will work)
Brown, yellow, red construction paper
White cardstock
Self-sticking googly eyes (non-self-sticking eyes will work, too)
Pencil, scissors, glue stick
Prep work
Draw the turkey body on the brown paper. Draw the waddle on the red paper. Draw the feet and beak on the yellow paper.
Draw and cut out a turkey feather stencil on the white cardstock. I did one in a small size and another one slightly larger.
Let the kids get to work
Have your kids cut out the body, beak, waddle, and feet. Then, have them glue everything in place. Stick the eyes in place. Be sure to remind them that the feet are glued to the back of the turkey, not on the front.
Then, have them trace and cut out the feathers using the different colored papers. Let them decide whether they want to use both big and small feathers, or just one and not the other. It is also up to them how many feathers their turkey has. Let their imaginations take over.
Once they have glued the feathers onto the back of their turkey, the craft is complete. We put them around the dining room to decorate for Thanksgiving.
