Easy Grape and Blue Cheese Canape

These canapes are a cinch to make.  They combine a tangy light blue cheese spread with sweet and nutty candied walnuts and a refreshing crispy red grape.  Served on a cracker, they make a great appetizer to Thanksgiving dinner.  Make everything ahead of time and have the kids put them together before your guests arrive.

You will need ...

  • Red Grapes
  • Blue Cheese Crumbles, 6 ounces
  • Cream Cheese, 8 ounces
  • Heavy Cream, 1/4 Cup
  • Candied Walnuts
  • Plain crackers (I used a pita cracker)

Step One

First, make the blue cheese spread.  In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the blue cheese crumbles and the softened cream cheese.  Add in a pinch of salt and pepper.  Mix until they come together.  Then, add in the cream and mix for about 2-3 minutes or until smooth and light.  Place the spread into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.  If you do not have a piping bag, you can certainly use a zip top bag.

Step Two

Next, assemble the canapes.  Set up your station with the grapes, candied walnuts, crackers, and the bag of blue cheese spread.  Also have a tray to place the finished canapes on.

First, slice a grape in half the long way.  Next, pipe a small round dollop onto the cracker.  Then, place the grape on the cheese spread.  Finally, add in a piece or two of candied walnut.  These will keep in the fridge for several hours before you are ready to serve them.  Enjoy!

NOTE: If you want, you could also drizzle a little honey onto the canape for an added touch. I chose not to because then my kids would become a sticky mess.
