Hocus Pocus 1 and 2 always top the Halloween movie must watch list. Especially in our house. This is a cute way to dress up those already delicious rice krispie treats. These delicious replicas of the Hocus Pocus book are sure to be a crowd pleaser. They take a little effort, but they’re definitely worth it. Remember, the best part of Halloween is that things are supposed to be a little kooky – perfection is not necessary!
Place the cereal in a large mixing bowl. Once the marshmallows have melted completely and combined with the butter, pour over the cereal. Use a spatula to combine the ingredients. This will be a little messy and might take some time, but it WILL come together eventually.
Then, pour into a parchment lined baking pan. Next, grease your palm with oil or butter. Firmly press down to pack the treats tightly into the pan. The tighter you pack it, the straighter the edges will be when you cut it.
Once the treats have firmed up, remove them from the baking pan. Slice them into rectangles.
Place the milk chocolate chips into a heat proof bowl. Place that bowl over a pot of low simmering water. Once the chocolate has melted, carefully dip each rectangle into the chocolate to coat all sides except the back of the “book.”
Use a spatula to carefully scrape off any excess chocolate.
After you have dipped all the treats, place the remainder of the milk chocolate into a piping bag. Use a zip top bag if you do not have a piping bag. Then, make the squiggly lines on the books. These can be random. Remember that the book looks a little rough, so these do not need to be perfect.
Then, place the eyeball sprinkles onto each book.
Finally, pipe on the final designs. Again, if you do not have access to the grey icing, a darker chocolate will work just as well. Then, let them dry and enjoy!
