Easy DIY Fall Leaf Wreath

Are you looking for an easy DIY decoration for fall?  Look no further than this fall leaf wreath.  It is a cinch to make and comes together within minutes.  It is even quicker to make if you already have some fall leaves on hand.  And if you don’t just gather some from your yard or neighborhood.  Or you could even make your own with some scissors and colored paper!

You will need ...

  • Yarn or String
  • Paper Plate
  • Crepe Paper (optional)
  • Scissors
  • Glue (stick or gun, but gun works best)
  • Fall Leaves (pre-made ones, real ones, or DIY leaves all work fine)

Step One

First, cut out the center of the paper plate.  Snip a bit in the center to make a place to insert the scissors.  Then, follow the inner line of the plate all the way around until you can remove the center.

Step Two

This next step is optional.  Take the crepe paper and stick the end to the plate using the glue.  Then, wrap it around the entire edge of the paper plate.  Snip the end.

Tack the end of the crepe paper down to the plate using the glue.

Step Three

Next, cut a strand of the yarn about 3 feet long.  Loop the yarn around the paper ring and tie the end.  This will be how you hang the wreath, so measure accordingly.

Step Four

Now you can begin gluing the leaves onto the paper ring.  Be sure to lay the ring down with the curve of the plate facing down (versus up like how you would use a plate).  Glue the leaves down at the base of the leaf, placing them slightly on top of the previous ones (versus underneath).  This way the leaves will lay nicely.  You can make the wreath as full or as sparse as you prefer.  Continue all the way around until you have covered the entire ring with leaves.

Now just find a nice place to hang the wreath and you have made an easy and festive decoration for fall.  Enjoy!
