DIY Backyard Games: Painted tic-tac-toe

Backyard games are always fun to have around.  Here’s a fun one that doesn’t require many supplies, and it can blend into your landscaping.  

You will need ...

  • Acrylic Paint (or any paint that can withstand outdoor weather)
  • Paint Brushes
  • Flat Rocks

Step One

Paint your rocks.  You can stick with the traditional “X” and “O” designs, or you can personalize it and create your own.  Remember that there should be a distinction between the two sets of rocks.  Also be sure to have an equal number of each design.

Step Two

If you have a tree stump, a large flat-sided rock, a concrete slab, or even a small table, you could use that for your board.  Take some acrylic paint and create the tic-tac-toe board.  

Step Three

Once the painted rocks have dried, set up the board and play the game!  When not in use, you could store the rocks in little buckets, or you could just lay them near the board in the yard as decoration.  Enjoy!
